Uprobotics is a hands-on robotics and technology learning program for children in grades K–12. But underneath the robots, it's an argument about how kids actually learn technical judgment.
Learning by building
Children learn technical judgment by working on systems that do not behave as expected.
At Uprobotics, students build robots, train models, work with sensors, test physical constraints and compete under deadlines. The objective is not merely to teach programming. It is to teach decomposition, experimentation, teamwork and persistence.
What that looks like in practice
Weekly after-school classes build toward FIRST® LEGO® League, FIRST® Tech Challenge and VEX IQ competition teams, alongside summer camps, homeschool classes and school partnerships. The format changes with age and season; the habit it's building — try it, watch it fail, figure out why, try again — doesn't.
Where the software side shows up
Some student projects turn into real, working systems. The AI pillbox monitor started as an Uprobotics project — a Raspberry Pi camera, an on-device computer-vision model, and a student learning that "it works on my machine" is the easy 80%.
